STORE FRONT

MCHC is the realization of the vision of Joyce M.O. to create a self-sustaining community to serve orphans, homeless, and the widows who have been left behind by the “lost generation” of Economic meltdown, Life threatening illness, HIV pandemic.

After being diagnosed with a rare terminal illness in 2004, and doctors ruling out any possibility of having children, she continued to experience miracle after miracle, 6 children later she heard the lord say “This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of GOD (John 11:4) but it was not until one Sunday morning while attending service at Glad Tidings that the vision was made clear. I felt moved by God to start MCHC and do all we can to provide shelter, food, hope and education to the many children orphaned by cancer, Aids and other causes.

We plan to open our first home in Nairobi, Kenya for the orphaned kids in the slums of Kibera.

We are planning to provide a family-like setting for orphaned children under the stewardship of elderly adults and seek to ensure that the children receive love, sustenance, health-care, holistic education and culture transfer, aiming at their physical, psychosocial and spiritual development, and, at the same time, providing holistic care and support for the grandparents in their later years. Through group homes and community services, the Center seeks to harness the energy of youth and the maturity of elders to create new blended families that foster healing, hope and opportunity. The center also seeks to ensure that the residents in the surrounding communities reach a certain level of self-reliance through the Center’s sustainability program.

We want to be able to continue to keep growing as needs arise. To take care of the orphans we have to continuously build to accommodate more children. Most non-profit organizations spend 70% of income for administrative costs. Only 30% goes to help their cause. Our goal is to turn this around and have 30% for administrative cost and 70% go to help the Orphans of Kenya. Our ultimate goal is to have the following breakdown of funds

10% —————————–fundraiser person

10% —————————–office staff

10% —————————–administrative costs

70% —————————–Children’s Hope Center

This may change with time, but this is our goal- for 70% of our money to go to the orphans. We must have a strong financial base. Once a child is brought into the orphanage, we will have the child at least until the age of 18 and perhaps even longer. We cannot put a child back on the streets to fend for himself because of a lack of funding, nor do we want to be a financial burden to the board members of Hope Center, the financial donors, or the director and staff of the Center. To insure that we will not become a financial burden on anyone, we must practice patience, faith, and wisdom and not make a financial commitment until we have a strong financial foundation that will last far into the future
